TBS has been advertising the movie Ella Enchanted. It's coming on TV this weekend, but Alex and I already saw it in the theater.

I read the book to Alex when we were dating. We both love the story -- it's masterful and charming and energetic. Everyone is happy at the end, and we love happy endings.

Ella Enchanted the movie is as Lord of the Rings would have been if Peter Jackson had cast Tom Cruise for Gandalf and made Galadriel into an advocate against the deforestation of Lothlorien, and if he'd given the Ents gas, and if he'd had any of the big important guys fall in love with Galadriel because she's the ONLY girl who isn't falling all over herself for him/them.

Grrrr.
